What a performance! Emily McDonald, who normally works in admin at the theatre took the lead role in front of 500 people each night and was awesome! Not nervous, she sang brilliantly and looked absolutely the part of Eliza.

It said in the programme notes that the play Pygmalion (which My Fair Lady is based on) was published in 1912. How appropriate that it was performed on the Wimbledon theatre stage which opened in 1910. The costumes and the setting matched perfectly.

The 50 people from around Wimbledon who gave up the last six months to rehearse all the parts were polished. And having a professional orchestra to accompany them meant that this was no Am-Dram try-out but a semi-professional production of all the songs from the famous musical. Bravo Wimbledon light Opera Society!
