Wimbledon Light Opera Society is always looking for new talent, on stage or off. We’re also interested in hearing from experienced directors in this field. There are lots of roles to fill – backstage, front of house, arranging publicity or social events.
Previous experience is not essential, but enthusiasm and commitment are. Singing membership is by audition – very informal, and members have first chance of auditioning for principal parts.
We perform two shows a year – usually mid-May and mid November or early December. As soon as we finish one, we start rehearsing for the next one. Our twice yearly performances take place at The Secombe Theatre, Sutton, The London Oratory School Arts Centre, Merton Hall or occasionally Wimbledon Theatre.
Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings from 7.45pm to 10.00pm at the Village Hall, Lingfield Road, Wimbledon (plus Thursday evenings for Principals – and occasionally, closer to the show, the chorus may also be required on Thursday evenings) and Sunday evenings for the final month before each production.
Our next production, My Fair Lady, is now fully cast and the chorus is closed to women but we may still be able to accept more men for the chorus. If you’d like to join WLOS please get in touch with us ASAP emailing lindapullinger@yahoo.com . We will be starting another production after My Fair Lady and open to new members again then.
